Therapy Insights

What are therapy insights?

During your therapy aha moments are happening.  Suddenly a realization, inspiration, insight, recognition, or comprehension of a complicated life experience is understood. These therapy insights bring focus, opens possibilities for change and inspiration for resolving issues.

Insight is not based on hard facts or evidence. When you gain insight, you are using your intuition, understanding, and becoming aware of your emotional state or condition leads to immediate and clear understanding to confidently face your challenges.

I want you to recognize your own intuition outside of formal therapy.  Finding insights through Art, Literature and Music can inspire therapy insights. Understanding yourself through metaphors, personal journals, stories, arts, music, and song can help minimize the expansive nature of our life events and give us hope.

It is an honor to walk this part of your journey with you.  Leaving therapy with new insights, tools, resources, and intuition will make your life experiences easier to understand and plan.

Thank  you artists for sharing your own Insights through Art, Literature and Spirituality.

THERAPY INSIGHT: Anxiety as Country Reopens

Why do I feel just as anxious, or even more anxious when my life is improving?  Why don't I feel more hopeful?  Shouldn't I be joyful that America is returning to work?  Where is my gratitude and thanksgiving?

Risk for relapse is greater when one's life is improving.  Individuals may relapse after an extended time of recovery.   These situations defy our reasoning.

Children’s stress/anxiety scores are just as high when parents stop fighting as when parents are fighting.  They know their role and what they need to do when parents are fighting; children do not understand how to respond when parents are not fighting.  Adjusting to change is challenging.

During COVID 19, a four-year-old told me his friend Movo died.  My heart skipped a beat before Mom said Movo is his imaginary friend.  Children have been frightened and scared during this pandemic.  Wow, losing Movo, your best imaginary friend personifies children’s experiences.  This child still talks about his friend Movo dying.

All of us are in the COVID 19 pandemic.  We will be emerging with unique experiences.  While we are in the same lake, we are not in the same boat.  Some of have lived on a yacht, others on lifeboats or hopefully wearing life jackets.  Grief, isolation, abuse, and addictions surround some of us.

I hope you found your sanctuary during the pandemic and are looking forward to being with people you have missed.  Understanding COVID 19 risks and precautions can be stressful.

Some of our lives have been turned upside down and these anxieties will linger. Those with financial security can experience anxieties the re-opening of our country. When you survive the pandemic, you are wondering what to say to friends and family who have experienced losses.
