I am educated in psychodynamic, cognitive, and family systems therapy. Additional training and certifications have continued to influence my knowledge and practice of psychotherapy. Working in the here and now, with an awareness of how the past effects the present is an integral part of my therapy. At the beginning of treatment, my approach is supportive and complements your coping skills.
Having treated many seriously ill patients has led me to a structured and clinical approach at the beginning of therapy. An in-depth interview, construction of a genogram and use of testing are part of the initial session. With this assessment in hand, we can feel comfortable exploring issues in more depth. Together, a specialized plan of care will be developed. Goals and treatment approach are discussed.
My Therapy Insights approach encourages you to better understand yourself and how you are affected by the world around you. It helps you develop awareness and intuition to consider more healthy approaches for problem solving. Inspiration through Art, Literature and Spirituality on this website, gives you a sampling of how insights are incorporated into your treatment. Therapy continues long after you leave my office.
The mission statement written when I first started private practice, remains my passion today. I have seen and experienced much darkness with my patients, yet the light surrounding the darkness inspires me. It leaves me in awe of the resiliency and capacity for forgiveness and grace that transforms those who have walked towards light.
